san marino

i went up to san marino a few weekends ago with a friend of mine. it was amazing. the whole reason we went up there cause during work i was looking through a book for inspiration and all these amazing homes where in san marino, ca. found out it wasn't far away... so a trip was made! it was so great. turns out there is a botanical gardens there too, and! it was having a summer fest. so it was free (always a nice feature) and it had a musician playing and the whole lawn was covered with people on blanket and picnics. just such a good time. it was the most amazing desert plants i've ever seen in my life. i've lived in utah for a long time, but i've always hated desert plants... until now. all wonderful-ness. such a treat. and!! the father of bride house was in this town, so of course we did a drive by. and so cute. i love this town. and that's the biggest understatement. NO traffic. i still can't get over that, and it's been a few weeks. no cars even on the road. it was wonderful. kids where playing in the street. a real neighborhood. reminded me a lot of ct but with a ca twist. just a lot of fun.

and the huntington library was so stunning. it was the best way to spend a sunday.

that funky shaped tree had these little thorns on them that looked just like hersey kisses. it was the coolest.
