week in review

i started my last round of summer classes on monday. ya, it's been a long week, and it definitely feels longer than just 5ish days. anyway, i'm doing business statistics, geology (gen ed) and continuing with my online business communication. stats is pretty easy so far. just common sense. geology is quite painful. ha. it's a course on natural disaster, i just don't care about it, and i can't use this info in the field, so it's pointless, and thats why its a struggle for me get to that class. i basically watch each minute of the two hours in that class monday-friday. but (!!) it's only a four week class, so i'm already a quarter of the way through it. it'll be over before i know it. yup, loving stats. yesterday we went over revenue, and probability. love the fact that you can guesstimate what you'll get on an exam based on who well you've done on your quizzes = all stats. and i found some wonderful educational videos on youtube that deal with stats. love technology. school this round is so much more easier cause of it!

but yesterday i made an appointment to talk to someone about an internship for next summer and how i go about doing that. i'm shooting/wanting a big firm (goldman/jpmorgan) in nyc. so we'll see. there's this one professor here (that i know of) that has connections at goldman. i'll take whatever. and on the academic calendar there's a meet and greet with firms around sept 8th. so hopefully that'll be beneficial. and i've run into some financial aid issues this week, i'm in the process of clearing that up. which i was able to meet with one counselor and she gave me my plan until i graduated! so wonderful. i'm outta here (for real, and for good) in may 2013. and i'll be taking some amazing classes along the way... investments, portfolio managing, hedge funds, etc.

the other night i looked up my professors on rateyourprofessor.com and for my business calculus class i'm taking next semester, my teacher got almost 5 out of 5! apparently she really breaks everything down, and goes above and beyond for the student. so i'm not so nervous to take that class anymore. just gotta keep up with it. and i found out that to make the deans list you need a 3.5 for the semester your in with at least 15 credits. so my goal for the next four semesters i want to be on the deans list each semester. totally do-able. just need to be on top of things. which i'm not thinking that'll be a problem. i love all this stuff i'm doing, cause it's knowledge that's actually useful and not a waste of time/money like art was. man, such a waste.

anyway, so it was lots of running around to meet with people this week to deal with financial aid, and studying, and homework, but it was a good week. i just need to manage my time better for next week. that's my goal.
